Are the cylinder supposed to be unsmoothed? If not try the smooth options (F9 Editing). With that the cylinder look almost perfectly smooth.
I really like this model. I would like to see the recent version of the model without textures like the version of Sep 2, 2004, but with Ambient Occlusion instead of a normal light.
